Novation Dicer Review: Quick Impressions By Four Color Zack

Four Color Zack, known for using an Akai MPD in his setup and being a master of tone play (I mean, he practically pioneered it in Thre3style competitions) recently took to twitter to give his first impression of Novation Dicers. Apparently he’s testing them out as part of his travel set up (can’t really argue with their small size). Here are his first impressions, complete with humor in true Four Color Zack fashion:

omg i just ordered dicers what have i done

@DZARECTOR i feel like i announced that i just bought a fubu denim jacket

@MarkNova_ oh believe me imma rate the shit out of these things. same day delivery too so shouldn't be long

— Four Color Zack (@Fourcolorzack) March 24, 2014

dicers showing up same day delivery and when they do imma rate them compared to the mpd if anyone cares about my thoughts on the matter

— Four Color Zack (@Fourcolorzack) March 24, 2014

dicers showed up, time to check these things out. they better mix all my records for me and double my rate

How many times am I gonna hit this thing on accident? pic.twitter.com/Nd3qWZqN7B

— Four Color Zack (@Fourcolorzack) March 25, 2014

sure miss having both deck's cues grouped together. but I'm sure thats just a learning curve

— Four Color Zack (@Fourcolorzack) March 25, 2014

nice that the cues light up tho thats one thing that will get u sometimes with the mpd

— Four Color Zack (@Fourcolorzack) March 25, 2014

@dj100proof idk so far i feel like im playing a video game

— Four Color Zack (@Fourcolorzack) March 25, 2014

having cues a thumbs reach away could open things up more, i like that

— Four Color Zack (@Fourcolorzack) March 25, 2014

cons: cues for each deck are separated, can't activate/deactivate existing loop, nothing extra to assign, & they look like my kids toys

— Four Color Zack (@Fourcolorzack) March 25, 2014

pros: less to carry when traveling, more space for hair products & tanning lotion

 What Do You Think?

Do you use dicers? Agree or disagree with his thoughts? He brought up some good points, especially about hitting the pads by accident (the primary reason I stopped using them in my sets).
