What Hard Drive Brand Fails The Most
Backblaze, a storage and backup company, recently published a post on what hard drives fail the most. Looking at the graph above it’s pretty clear that we should steer clear of seagate drives. It should be noted that they only compared budget drives though.
How Long Until A Drive Fails
So it’s no secret that a hard drive will fail, but the question is how long until it does? Looking at this other chart they provided, there’s a severe increase in failure rate after a year and a half (at least on the seagate drives)
Just looking at their findings makes me not want to buy a seagate drive ever. All hard drives will fail though, it’s only a matter of time until yours does. So just remember to keep backing up all that music! For a more in-depth look and a really intense breakdown of what models were compared, head over to backblaze and check our their study.
